"My paintings try to be a mirror of life itself.  They are an attempt to share with you the beauty of a moment, seen through my eyes."

                                                                                    Alberto de Lama
Graphic Direction, lnc., is proud to present Alberto de Lama, a master realist painter, whose work is internationally known and collected. His artistic quest began in Havana, Cuba, his birth-place, under the tutelage of Octavio Suárez Mantecón. He furthered his studies at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, one of the premier, realist art schools in the country, nurturing and developing his painter's skills in the rich Midwestern art tradition of draftsmanship with William Mosby & Joseph Vanden Broucke. He later taught drawing and painting at the American Academy.

Mr. de Lama's work reveals the wide scope of subject matter and locale that influence his artistic expression. For more than two decades he worked from his studio in Chicago, painting, etching and drawing the human figure and the  ever- changing urban scene. He also interpreted the Wisconsin farmland, the  North woods landscape and Chippewa lndian dancers from his summer studio in the Lac du Flambeau lndian Reservation.

Travels to Taos, Santa Fe, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico and South America have kept his theme varied and fresh.

Since 1982 Alberto de Lama has worked from his studio in Tampa, Florida, closer to the special light of the tropics that illuminates his vision.

A compilation of his Tampa paintings and drawings will be published  in the forthcoming book entitled Tampa: A Painter’s Portrait.
